About me
Hi there,
I have begun my woodworking journey in 2017, right around when I was looking for some furniture for our home. A dining table and some chairs. I developed this curiosity towards woodworking when I started browsing and saw so many overpriced and/or bad quality furniture out there. What if I could make them myself?
I took a workshop to get a taste for it, to touch a few actual woodworking tools. That gave me inspiration to build upon. Then I acquired a few tools and started attempting simple projects. I slowly built up to my first chair in 2019 with the help of many books and some instructional videos. A few chairs and the dining table followed that shortly (finally). Needless to say, my wife has infinite patience and I can’t be luckier.
My approach to woodworking is of a craft mindset. I believe that people building their own things, not necessarily aiming for machine-perfection, but focusing on functionality, is the way to go. A well-crafted artifact brings so much joy to the maker and to the users. It will stand the test of time, it will be loved, and it will be a thing of unique beauty. It won’t be a disposable piece that has just a few years of life.
Today, all of us are surrounded by so many low-quality, mass-produced items, especially “wooden” furniture. Being able to make some of these items myself has given me immense satisfaction, not to mention plenty of physical and mental exercise as well as creating much better quality items in the end.
I would like to invite you all to take a step in your woodworking journey with me and start building your skills. I offer you my guidance for whichever specific creations you feel inspired to make through the workshops I list on this website.
Hope to see you soon,
Kadir
